Ordered bar from ApplianceParts Pros and two end caps. Had to cut the bar to size create a new cutout for the end cap on the cut end, install the end caps and voila, now I can use that shelf again. Bought new optic control boards, both the emitter and the receiver. The repair process was so simple. The KitchenAid repair tech came out to diagnose our issue. He was only going to come back and install a new emitter. They wanted a lot of money to do the repair. They were going to charge us $257 just for the part (emitter board). The noise seemed to be caused by a vibration. The condenser fan motor seemed to have a vibration. I didn't need the fan blade as it came off in good condition. Read more

The refrigerator was given to me and hasn't defrosted since it was new. I found the defrost timer had a burnt spot on the circuit board. After installing a new timer, the refrigerator would trip the circuit breaker in my house when it entered defrost mode. I found that the pink wire running from the control board all the way to the thermostat was shorted somewhere between the two parts, inside the refrigerator. I ran a new "pink" wire and all is good.
