Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP8573713

Dryer won't heat? A failed thermal cut-off fuse cuts power when temps spike. DIYers replace this safety part in 20-30 minutes with basic tools.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My maytag gas dryer would start and the the tumbler rotate but the igniter would not glow and flame not start   .gil P. • Enumclaw , WA • March 29, 2015

The 2 sensors that sit on top of the flame tube work together. The Thrmst F should check closed, as should the Cutoff-TML, in order for power to flow to the ignitor. If the Cutoff is open, it is usually because the Thrmst-F did not open soon enough. The Thermst-F will cycle, closed to open, and repeat, however the Cutoff-HTML is a one time switch. If it opens it will not return to closed, and subsequently the ignitor will not glow. Some professionals say that if one of these sensors fail, both... Read more

Maytag Dryer Heating Element
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool

Dryer won't heat? A broken heating element is the most common cause. This coil provides heat for drying cycles. DIY repair typically takes 1-2 hours.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No heat in my maytag dryer lde412   David D. • Rock Creek , OH • November 18, 2014

I took off the front cover and checked the sensors which were all good. Then I removed the cover for the heating coil after finding that it appeared open. Found that the coil had in fact broken but the break was not visible just by looking in. Located the break in the coil within an insulator near the back. I checked appliance stores locally and found the coil for far more than Appliance Parts Pros wanted for it. I placed an order after chatting with a tech, I placed and order and had it in... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You F2 e3 error code on front load duet washer   Mark M. • Saratoga Springs , NY • September 16, 2016

Replace the water temperature sensor and still had the error code. While I had the back of the machine open I ran the washer. I traced the black wires from the temperature sensor and wiggled them as the washer was running. At one zip tie every time i moved the wires the washer would stop running and the error code would flash. Sure enough, like many others posted, the vibration from the machine had split the wire. I spiced the wire back together and have not had a problem since. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Towels started taking a long time to dry.   Kevin M. • Middleville , MI • October 31, 2020

My dryer lint filter was clogged beyond regular cleaning due to its age. After 15 years of daily use it was time to replace. In.the process of determining why the dryer was taking so long to dry loads, I noticed the filter housing gasket had torn off somehow which allow a lot of lint to pass through into the dryers main housing. I believe this prevented the dryer to have good air flow. Replacing both the filter and its housing was easy and fixed the problem pronto! I saved myself $1000 by... Read more
