Replaced the actuator pad on the Whirlpool Gold Series, releasing the electronic menu pad to get to the water activator pad was the biggest hurdle. The release tabs are underneath the menu pad and you may feel as if you may break them when releasing them. They did not break but I did hold by breath. Read more

• Fridge too cold

Easy fix in less than 10 minutes. I replaced the thermostat control. I first shorted the two wires that went to the control and let it run for 1 hour. The temperature was dropping and the freezer was freezing. Read more

My refrigerator was not dispensing ice. I could hear the motor activating but noticed the ice auger was not turning. My old drive shaft was stripped on both ends. Video was very helpful and it was an easy fix for someone with little handyman experience. Received my order much faster than expected! Appeared to be two problems: the latch was worn and one of the pins that slid in a guide on the actuator located in the inner panel had broke off. Detergent lid spring and pin appeared to be OK but decided to replace since I was aready working on it. I ordered all the inner panel mechanism from the control arm to the latch actuator on the inner panel. The repair was successful as the detergent dispenser now opens during its cycle. Read more

Thanks to the testimony of others on the site, I knew exactly which parts to order. The triangular holder which keeps the ice storage container was cracked so I replaced it. I also ordered a new Auger Motor Drive Shaft which makes the curvy metal piece in the bin turn. Mine had worn down and would not turn the curvy metal piece anymore. Replacing these pieces worked like a charm. My kids were amazed that ice now comes out of the door after 2 months of having to reach inside. Read more

• Door sweating

Removed old gasket. Replaced old gasket with new. A small wooden block helped seat gasket. Read more

Removed the worn gasket, cleaned the door, snapped on the new gasket. Read more

Removed the plastic shield, then unscrewed old bulb. Screwed in new bulb. New bulb has a slightly different screw base. Looked in several stores that carry appliance bulbs and could not find any bulbs that matched the unusual screw base. Replacing the snap-in plastic shield was difficult. It might have been easier if I had taken the freezer drawer out. Read more

Watched video and gathered tools I needed. Very simple, and I’m a 72 year old woman! Took maybe 15 minutes to replace both freezer and frig hinge washers. Both doors work like new. Read more

• Leaking

I have a Whirlpool Side-by-side Model ED22PWXBW01. A year ago, the ice cubes started freezing together in the rear of the ice bin for no apparent reason. Although the problem started off small, it gradually grew much worse, and finally I could see water dripping out of the ice mold and into the bin during the fill cycle. Removed the old tube. You will need this part - note that it might look different from what you have because they redesigned the part to not have a sharp curve at the bottom part where it plugs into the valve. You will also need a 5/8" stainless steel hose clamp (that will go down to 1/4") to clamp the top part of the hose that feeds into the icemaker (this replaces the factory clamp that is effectively throw-away).
