Had to replace the auger. The auger on my ice maker was made of plastic and had broken pieces off it. The new one is made of metal and seems to work much better. Was a fairly simple repair. However pay close attention when disassembling, I recommend using your cell phone and snap a pic of the different stages as I became a little confused when putting it back together. This defrost heater is mounted near the evaporator coils and generates heat to melt frost buildup during the automatic defrost cycle. It helps maintain proper airflow and cooling efficiency inside the refrigerator. Replace this heater if you notice excessive frost on the evaporator coils, the refrigerator is not cooling properly, or the freezer section is warm.
Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion.
