Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Level Pressure Switch (Part Number: OEM18025296)

1 Answer

Rick, A faulty pressure switch will not keep the drain pump from getting 120 Vac to it. It would keep the drain running if it does not reset due to a clogged hose or something but will not keep it from actually draining. If the unit is not draining then test the pump for 120 Vac getting to it. If there is 120 vac to the pump assembly but not draining then the pump is defective and would need replaced regardless if it runs outside of the unit.

Michael, You will want to check to see if there is power going to the pump when in the drain cycle and if there is no power then check wiring between the pump and the control board. If the wiring is good then this will be a control board error and will need a new control board.

Mochiler for Model Number NFW7200TW

Hi, The washer seems to work fine but will not spin most of the time. It seems that when i wiggle a bit the water pressure level sensor part it starts the spin cycle (otherwise it is stuck at 8 or 9 minutes, sometimes it goes down to 6 and then back to 8). I measured the voltage on the water pressure level connector and i am getting 2.9VDC and not 2.5VDC. Is it a flaky water pressure sensor switch? If I replace it and it happens not to solve the issue - can i return it? Thanks!!

Mochiler, We would expect a tenth of a DC volt to make a difference, or indicate an issue with the pressure switch. Like most front load washers, three things need to occur for the washer to spin. The door has to lock, the tub has to drain completely and the pressure switch has to reset to the empty circuit. First check to make sure there are no loose connections between the control board and door lock assembly, If you haven't yet, check the drain pump and hoses, to make sure the washer drains properly and is empty. The next check is at the pressure switch, remove power and the top panel, disconnect the air tube from the pressure switch and blow in the end of the tube. this would normally clear any sediment or debris that may build up on the inside of the air tube and restrict the airflow inside the tube and cause the pressure switch to act/operate erratically.

Hello Cedric, The tech sheet does not specify which wire is what except that terminal 2 is common. This means that from terminal 2 to terminal 1 will read either open or closed while terminal 3 reads the opposite. This reverses on both wires when the pressure switch changes state.

Maytag Neptune front load wash machine that is throwing an OE code during the wash cycle. For some reason half way into the wash cycle the hot water valve is kicking on, even though the machine is set to cold/cold...Eventually, the alarm will go off when the tub is half filled and it will start to drain, however, the hot water keeps filling until I shut off the hot water on the wall. Does this sound like the pressure sensor, the hot water valve or the mother board. Am about ready to float this machine down the river.

1 Answer

Jeff, The "OE" code indicates the machine is overfilling. A "sticky" fill valve that allows water to continue to fill unless the faucet is turned off, is a most likely problem. You'll want to replace the fill valve WP34001248 clean or replace the screened hose washers 285452A and flush both faucets, to clear any sediment or debris in the water lines. Both parts are in stock and available. You can also disconnect the air tube from the pressure switch, blow in the end of the tube to clear any sediment or debris in the tube(make sure the washer tub is empty).

Diego, You will just check continuity to test between com and each of the other terminals to ensure that there is continuity when each pressure point. If there is not continuity for each setting then the issue will be the pressure switch.

Joe, If the drain pump is loosing power prematurely then the issue with the unit would be the control board that has a intermittent relay for the drain. You will want check the drain pump to ensure that there is nothing clogged in the filter trap on the pump that could cause a slow drain.

Leroy, you need to look elsewhere, most likely the control board. The water level switch doesn't control the drain pump, but it does control the spin cycle. The pressure switch has to reset to the empty position, This data tells the control the tub is empty of water and cam/should spin. Check for 120 VAC at the drain pump wiring from the control board. No voltage indicates a broken wire or bad control board.

David for Model Number mah8700aww

About a month ago our washer stopped draining with the nd code appearing. Checked all hoses even replaced the main drain hose and drained fine. A three days later same problem, so I replaced the drain pump thinking it might be weak and the belt since the washer has some age on it. Didnt help anything so we would unplug it for ten min and set it rinse and spin which worked for a while. A week a go it stopped draining unless it was unplugged for at least 24hrs. Now yesterday it stopped filling with water. Any suggestions.

David, This issue sounds like it would be caused more by a faulty control board than a drain or valve issue. You will want to check the pressure switch WP34001324 but the control board is more likely to be the cause.

Jim, The 7E error code indicates that the Silver Care Kit (Silver care PCB) failure. Check the Silver care pcb, main pcb and wire harness. The silver care PCB is part number MES-AG3MOD-S2.
