For Whirlpool Dishwasher Control Board (Part Number: OEM18044862)

Hello Henry, After the first part of wash is the prewash and unless you add soap for the prewash there would be no soap in the unit after first drain. Once the unit fills again and goes through to the main wash then the detergent is dispensed into the tub.

Hello Ferg, You will want to do a resistance check to make sure that heater is good. You will also want to check connections to make sure no loose or damaged connections. Do a continuity check on the wiring from heater to control board. If all this checks ok then you would replace control board. If heater does not check good then you would replace heater. If there is wiring issue wiring would have to be corrected. Heater should ohm out at 10-30 ohms. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

When starting we try NORMAL or POTS&PANS and HEATED DRY. Usually the lights start flashing if the START does not happen. The unit works normally at times but not often. We have tried the CLEAR button. Most of the time that light starts flashing also, but it has worked (not often). We have turned off the power to the unit to reset ? Usually the NORMAL light still flashes or all at times. We had SEARS service to check. They diagnosed the CONTROL PANEL TIMER : W10084142N. Please advise, thankyou. Steve

Hello Steve. Yes, the control panel WPW10137549 is bad, but not the control board like you have listed. You need to order and replace the control panel.

The dishwasher went dark in the middle of a cycle. There is power to the junction box underneath. I did the Troubleshooting guide tests for won't run or power up. The switch seems OK. I believe I found and tested the bi-metal and it seems OK (it is closed). I disconnected the PC board to check the keypad operation and closed the door. The manual says the drain motor should have turned on but it did not. The manual concludes I should replace the control. Does it mean the PC board? There is a paper sticker on the board that says: P/N W10084142B. Is the PC board the likely problem? What would cause it to go bad?

1 Answer

Hello Larry, Yes the control board is part number WPW10084142. When they mention replacing the PC board they are referring to the main control board. The PC board is the most likely problem since you checked all other functions. Control boards can fail at any given point in time.

David for Model Number Whirlpool DU1300XTVQ1

Our dishwasher runs through a full cycle only SOMETIMES. It stops at random intervals and all lights on it turn off. When we push Start again, it does not resume; it starts from the beginning of a normal cycle again (as if it had lost power or been reset). It seemed to more often run the whole way through if we pushed extra options like High Temp wash & sani-rinse. Usually it would make it through the whole cycle after about 4-7 crashes. When it washes, all the components work well (wash, rinse, drain, heated dry, etc.). We opened up the door to the unit to make sure all connections to the circuit board were good. It doesn't seem to have any problem registering the door/open close. We've also tried to run the diagnostics, but the key combination in the service manual doesn't seem to do anything. We suspect the circuit board or the thermal fuse. Would either of these components cause this kind of behavior? Any other suggestions or ideas before we give up and have to buy a replacement?

David, Check and make sure the power supply connections, in the junction box, on the dishwasher frame, behind the lower access panel/ kickplate, are not loose, cinged, or damaged in any way. Make sure you have a proper 120 VAC, polarized and grounded power supply. Since you stated the door switches are OK, and the thermal fuse shouldn't be at fault( it's a "one shot"component) That leaves the power supply, wiring or a faulty keypad/control panel assembly WP3385735

Hello Richard, The chopper assembly W10083957V has most likely broken and the unit is clogged with food particles. This is easily repaired but you should be aware that a chip of broken glass is the most likely cause. Use a wet vac to clear the impeller area so you don't get cut.

David, Chances are you'll count the blinks and there'll be seven. This indicates and issue in the water heating circuit, and could be due to the water temperature being too low( you need a water temperature of 120 dgrs.F. in the bottom of the tub on the first fill of a wash cycle) You may also have a limit thermostat or heater element issue and will need to check both componwents for "closed" circuits with a multimeter. We'll be sending you some more information, so you can reset the new control and conduct the circuit checks on the components. Thanks

Hello Chris. Sometimes, the fuse may test good and actually be bad. If there is power coming to the board, but not to the control panel, it sounds like the fuse W10258275 needs to be replaced in the unit. Be sure and install the new wiring harness sent with the fuse as well, or you will continue to have issues.
