Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18056142)

1 Answer

Hello Loki, The control board WPW10285180 is most likely the issue, at least if no lights are on after you haven't used it for a while. If any lights show up without pushing a button there is a stuck key on the touch pad WPW10459139.

Chad P. for Model Number KitchenAid KUDL03IVBL4

My Kitchenaid dishwasher KUDL03IVBL4 will run through a wash cycle, whether on normal or heavy duty, and then reach a drain cycle, drain all water out, but then continue to run the drain pump and not move on to the next step in the cycle. It would sit there for hours if I did not CANCEL the process. All water is drained out. The A&E repair technician told me it would be the control board malfunctioning. Does this sound correct? All other functions appear to be working correctly. Chad P.

Chad, You'll need to replace the control board assembly WPW10285180. Since you didn't mention any erratic lights on the display/control panel, we'd presume the issue is most likely in the control"chip" and will require the control to be repalced.

Hi Don. Remove the drain hose indside the sink along withe a bucket to see if the hose is clogged or the sink connection is clogged. Use a screwdriver inside the sink pipe is clogged. Remove the drain hose at the pump to see if the pump is clogged. Make sure the impeller is not spinning loose on the motor shaft. If the chopper blade is clogged and the sump filter is clogged, then it will not drain properly. There is a optical water sensor that shoots infra red between 2 prisms to see if the water is dirty or clean. It also has a thermistor which reads the water temperature. So complete drain and inner clean ability are sensed to work properly. Inside the inner door by the control panel or in the back of the toe kick panel is a supplied tech. sheet. It allows you to put the unit in a diagnostic mode which brings up fault codes and tells you which circuit needs assistance. If the start is flashing then the door latch part # WPW10404409 contacts are not closing. Thank You.

Phil for Model Number 66513463K902

I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher model 66513463K902. About 3 weeks ago, I was unable to select a wash cycle; the wash cycle was stuck on Normal wash. To wash a load, I would press the Start button. Now, there are no lights on the Front Panel and I cannot begin a wash cycle by pressing the Start button. I unplugged the power cord for 15 minutes and reconnected the power. When the power cord is reconnected, I hear the dishwasher trying to drain water, but there is no water in the dishwasher. After the drain cycle stops, nothing works. I checked the bi-wire fuse with a Digital Multi Meter and it has continuity (0 ohms). I think the Control board (Part # 10285180) needs to be replaced? What do you think?

1 Answer

Hello Nelson. You need to check and see if the fuse W10258275 is bad and needs to be replaced in the unit. If there is power there, but everything is dead, it sounds like the fuse is bad. You need to replace the wiring harness sent with the fuse when you replace the fuse. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Kory, If there is no power to the buttons, the buttons cannot be at fault. There is the possibility that the ribbon cable has lost electrical connection. To see if this is the case, remove the ribbon cable from the control and use a normal pencil eraser on the traces. Be sure to rub the traces only in the direction they run so as not to damage them. If this does not restore normal operation, the control WPW10285180 will have to be replaced.

Hello Rick, The clean light blinking 7 times is a fault code for the water heating circuit on board the unit. If the control doesn't see a predetermined increase of temperature in a set amount of time, the code will flash. First off, be sure you always run the hot water at the sink before starting a cycle to shorten the wash cycle. The most probable cause of this fault code is the heating element going open. Other possible causes are the door switch, the control board, the door switch, and the wiring harness. Of course the first thing I would recommend is to visually inspect the heating element Heating element kit- This dishwasher heating element is for stainless steel tubs only. Includes a new computer board that needs to be replaced along with the element. For plastic tubs use W10518394. Part Number: 8194200 for a stainless steel tub. If it has burned in to of course it will need replacement. If there is a white place, or much lighter place present it will need to be tested to ensure your not replacing a good part. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html. The wiring diagram should be found behind the kick panel and will guide you to the fore-mentioned components which you may need to test. After repair you will also have to place the unit into the diagnostic mode to reset the control so it can run through cycles again. This procedure is as follows: On the control panel....heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal - OR - High temp, air dry, high temp, air dry. These keys must be pressed within 10 seconds to set the control into diagnostics. At this point you can allow it to go all the way through the self-diagnostic cycle or you can press cancel.

Rick for Model Number 24 in. DU1100XTP Built-in Dishwasher Whirlpool

My dishwasher will not start. The drain works I poured water in to test it. I checked the float and it was free and clicks when you move it up and down. I checked the float switch and door switch for resistance they were all good as was the bimetal fuse. The keypad swiches all work, the lights above them come on but the start switch will not work and it will not run the diagnostic. I removed the ribbon from the control and when I restarted it after 5 seconds the drain came on for 2 minutes. So I am assuming that the control is good but the keypad is at fault. It is a $207 part because the keypad and console assembly are sold together. Am I right? Should I order this part?
