Bosch Shxm78z55n Dishwasher Parts

This was to address an E:09 fault code on a Bosch dishwasher. I swapped out the Circulation motor and heater assembly. The video given on APP.com was for a different model, but more or less the same. The video gave me confidence enough to order the part and attempt it. The significant difference was that in the video, the assembly is easily accessible from the bottom of the unit. Leak was slow but becoming gradually worse. Pulled dishwasher out from under counter then visually inspected sump while it ran. As soon as the water got very hot, I could see the sump leaking where it meets the stainless pan. Searched for the correct sump gasket without success. Turns out that the gasket is built into the sump for this model. The built-in gasket is very narrow (under-engineered IMHO which is probably why it developed a leak). We replaced the black door seal gasket around the front of the dishwasher. The old black seal gasket had begun to deteriorate, every time it was touched black stuff would rub off onto hands and onto utensils in the upper basket. We wore some disposable gloves to remove the old seal to avoid getting the black stuff on our hands. I spent a lot of time taking apart and cleaning the drain pump and hoses in my Bosch dishwasher. I still got the error that the drain pump wasn't right. So, after doing some research, I learned that the motor might be done and that seemed to be the only solution. Bought a new middle rack but had to move some of the plastic parts from the old rack to the new rack. The parts were a little difficult to remove from the old rack and I had to use a lot of care to get that done without breaking one. Once the parts were off they were pretty easily installed on the new rack. Read more

Replaced both the Spray Arm and the Spray Arm Water Supply Tube. Highly recommend replacing base plate whenever the Spray Arm Water Supply Tube is replaced. Plastic tabs on the base plate hold those parts together and are likely to break (as seen on Appliance Parts Pros installation video!!!). I sensed tab weakness so just transferred parts needed from the new tube to the old tube and reinstalled the original tube / base plate assembly rather than risk breaking those plastic tabs. Found root cause of water distributor leak: White plastic shaft that goes through the red double lip seal in center of water distributor housing was worn. A groove was worn into shaft ~ 90 DEG around. This short shaft connects motor to distributor wheel. When cycle called for water distributor motor to do its thing, water would leak into bottom of machine, raise the float and trigger E15. Removed Torx screws inside the dishwasher door, this causes the door panel to fall forward/down. Having a rug or something underneath to prevent scratches is useful. It's about 8 screws that need to come out, if I recall correctly they are all the ones with the torx head facing into the dishwasher when in the closed position. Then the panel comes off, exposing the bolts holding the handles, the cap comes off easily and replaces easily and reverse the process. Some of the screws are different... Read more

Obtained a replacement hose from App Parts Pros. Was actually an easy fix. The old hose is detached from the housing by just pulling it out(there are no clamps) with the assist of a screwdriver for leverage. The new hose then plugs in. Voila! Read more

It was surprisingly easy to remove the door, remove the hinges, then install the new hinges. On my model, the right hinge has a wiring harness attached, but I just removed from the old hinge and attached it to the new one. You need to be careful about moving the door too far the the cabinet because of attached wires. I needed a torx bit for the screws and a flathead screwdriver for prying the hinges off their pins. After custom panel was removed replacement was obvious and simple. Took a while to find the custom panel instructions on the Bosch site to see which screws needed to be removed. This was in a separate document from the regular installation instructions. Made a pencil line on the metal as a guide and cleaned off old adhesive just to ensure new one stuck on OK. Read more
