The Brake Shoe is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This part stops the spinning tub during the spin cycle, allowing the washer to transition smoothly to the next phase of the cycle.
Causes of a bad brake shoe can include regular wear and tear, excessive friction from heavy loads, or breakage due to mishandling.
Symptoms of a bad brake shoe include:
- The washing machine not stopping the spin cycle promptly
- Loud squeaking or grinding noises during or after the spin cycle
- The tub continuing to spin when the lid is opened
- The washer shaking or vibrating excessively during the spin cycle
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.
