Dishwasher won't start or run? A faulty door latch prevents cycles from beginning. This latch assembly secures the door and activates switches. 5-10 min fix.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Two year old ge dishwasher just did not turn on   Brian K. • Sault Ste Marie , MI • November 17, 2018

After I double checked that the unit did have power to it, I concluded it was probably a switch or the User Interface Board. I found the parts on the AppliancePartsPros for the best price and delivery. After the parts were delivered two days later, it took me a couple hours to disassemble and re-assemble the door for the dishwasher and luckily everything seems to be working fine three days and three loads later. The only issue I had was with the User Interface board..... this is a generic... Read more

Dryer bearing slides enable smooth drum rotation. Replace when hearing squeaking or rumbling sounds during cycles. Confirm fit with your model number.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer drum problem   Tonya B. • Ithaca , NY • December 24, 2022

A thumping sound (like sneakers in the dryer) started happening. We stopped using it so that it wouldn't get worse and potentially break more parts. Online research suggested rear drive shaft would be the problem. But also suggested while we have the dryer apart, would be smart to replace the belt and the slides/glides (green and white plastic tabs in front, attached to the door). We ordered all the parts from AppliancePartsPros.com and they arrived FAST. It helps to have two people for this... Read more

Dishes not drying or staying wet after cycle? This heating element heats water during wash and dries dishes after rinse. DIY-friendly replacement part.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher was not heating water and dishes were coming out wet and cold no steam at all   James C. • Lubbock , TX • February 15, 2019

I followed the directions on several websites for repairs. The obvious place to start is the heating coil and thermostat. I checked the continuity of the coil and it was good with a reading of almost zero resistance. Next I read that there is no thermostat controls on my GE dishwasher so I followed another webpage that said the Sensor Turbidity Assembly acts like a thermostat so I replaced that. Wasted effort as that switch sensor was OK. Normally it has a light on when it is working, a... Read more

Flood Switch Assembly
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WD21X10519

The Flood Switch Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers that is responsible for detecting water levels in the dishwasher's base, preventing potential flooding by shutting off the water intake if an overflow is detected. This helps in avoiding water damage to your home and ensuring the dishwasher operates normally.

Symptoms of a bad Flood Switch Assembly include:

  • The dishwasher not filling with water
  • Water not draining properly
  • The dishwasher stops during a cycle

Causes of a bad flood switch assembly can vary from debris accumulation affecting the float's movement to electrical issues within the switch mechanism. Over time, wear and tear on the float or switch can lead to failures.

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The dishwasher would not fill with water   Jeffrey J. • Ramsey , MN • December 02, 2014

Removed the lower rack, removed the lower wash arm, removed the lower coarse filter, removed fine filter ( still no tools require to this point). Removed two 1/4" head screws with nut driver to then remove float switch, unplugged float switch, plugged in new switch, reinstalled filter, etc. This is a 5 minut job! Read more

Dishwasher Drain Pump And Motor Kit
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WD19X25187

Dishwasher won't drain or leaves standing water? This drain pump kit removes water at cycle end. Common DIY repair taking 15-30 minutes with basic tools.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE dishwasher not draining.   Carol J. • Bartlett , IL • December 18, 2021

I viewed youtube videos and followed the instructions on how to determine the cause of the problem. I cleared the lines and poked my fingers in to check for obstructions. But in the end, the drain pump was the problem. The pump came in the mail the next day. The job required the pump and only one of the hose clamps as the original setup has one single ear clamp which can be removed with wire cutters and a standard one which I re-used. There is a wire adapter in the kit that is necessary to... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You $1000 dishwasher didn't clean dishes   Kevin W. • Rochester , MA • January 20, 2016

Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WD15X26140

Dishwasher not filling with water or filling too slowly? The water inlet valve controls water flow into the tub. DIY-friendly repair with video guide.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The dishwasher would not fill with water   Nicholas V. • Rockford , MI • November 12, 2019

I figured it was the valve, but searching on the Appliance Parts site, somebody said they fixed it by replacing the switch flood assembly. So I order both parts. The Switch Flood Assembly was easiest to replace, so I decided to try that first. When I pulled out the old assembly, I noticed it did not 'rattle', as the new one did. So, there is apparently a float ball that had gotten stuck. I put the new one in and poof.. it worked. The only update to the instructions is a reminder that the... Read more

Dishwasher Circulation Pump And Motor Assembly
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WD26X23258

Fix a dishwasher that won't clean dishes or has weak spray pressure. This circulation pump distributes water to spray arms. Moderate difficulty repair.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leak from underneath the unit   Justin H. • Missoula , MT • September 27, 2021

We pulled the dishwasher out, took it to the garage and set it up on sawhorses and planks so we could access the bottom. We plugged it in and filled it with water and ran a quick cycle. As soon as the circulation pump kicked on water came spraying out from the rubber boot in the diverter assembly. It appears that there was a factory defect in the hose. Unfortunately, the water got into the pump motor over a few loads and was eroding the brushes on the motor. We decided to replace it as well.... Read more
