Nicholas V Rockford , MI November 12, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher GDT580SMF0ES The dishwasher would not fill with water I figured it was the valve, but searching on the Appliance Parts site, somebody said they fixed it by replacing the switch flood assembly. So I order both parts. The Switch Flood Assembly was easiest to replace, so I decided to try that first. When I pulled out the old assembly, I noticed it did not 'rattle', as the new one did. So, there is apparently a float ball that had gotten stuck. I put the new one in and poof.. it worked. The only update to the instructions is a reminder that the assembly has a wiring harness connected, so you need to be a little gentle when you remove the assembly. One of the symptoms that might be helpful. The unit would make a 'grinding' noise at the start of the cycle. I assume this was it trying to drain itself before starting the wash. Bradley S Mcdonald , PA May 11, 2020 No water into my GE dishwasher Replaced the food switch assembly. I ordered a water inlet valve as well, though I did not need it. Once I opened the new flood switch and could feel the ball valve rattle when shaking it (and the old one did not rattle) I knew that was the problem. It would be a good initial diagnostic recommended check of the original flood valve to shake it after removal to see/hear if the ball inside rattles as it should. Stephanie S Tolland , CT May 17, 2016 Appliance: Model GDF570GF8WW Install error My husband accidentally cross treaded the plastic water valve on our new dishwasher, easy enough to do since its plastic. So, GE was coming to fix it in a 7 days. Fine, except I had a huge party in two days and the dishwasher would be a tremendous help! I ordered a new valve on a Friday, with the excellent assistance from the live chat, and chose standard delivery. They said the average delivery time was 1.7 days. It was at my house the next day, on Saturday. Hubby replaced the valve and installed the washer the morning of the party. I have ordered parts for my fridge as well from AppliancePartsPros.com and have always been very satisfied. They have tons of parts, very convenient, excellent assistance, fast delivery, and great return policy. Will always go here before I set foot in a big box store!
