Whirlpool Heating Element

• Oven not heating evenly
• Little to no heat when baking

The stove is about 19 years old. We had a difficult time getting baked goods to be cooked on the inside as well as outside (bundt cakes especially). I replaced the oven temperature sensor probe, used a digital oven thermometer (as well as the older type) to measure the oven temp. The older, dial thermometer hit and pretty much stayed at the set 350 deg F. The digital one showed a plus/minus 20-degree fluctuation and all seems well. I turned off the oven at the breaker box. I waited until the element had cooled down and then used a nut driver to remove two screws that hold the element plate to the oven wall. The element can then be pulled out slightly to expose the push on electrical connections. I disconnected the wires leading to the element. Ordered 2 replacement elements. Then performed the following: 1. Shut off power to cooktop (IMPORTANT) 2. Remove the brackets holding cooktop in. (under counter, I had 2) 3. Push up cooktop from under counter, you will need to lift cooktop about 3 inches from counter top. I used 2 furring strips to hold cooktop up. 4. Remove the philips head screws holding the glass top on. I had 10, 2 on each side, 3 front and rear. 5. Carefully work the glass cooktop loose from its base. Dont use... Read more
