The root cause was the front glides. They were virtually gone, and the drum was on metal to metal. So I replaced them with a front glide kit. I also replaced the belt, rear rollers, and lint screen. When I first looked at my dryer I thought it was my ignitor, on a closer look I found that about an inch of my burner assembly arm was laying in a corroded mess on the bottom pan of my dryer. Went on internet, found a great site and learned that the cold water hose filter was very much clogged at the machine intake. Cleaned it and voila. We noticed several screws were missing from our dryer door hinges which caused the door to sag and the strike bent as the door slammed. We easily removed the door and took it apart, then removed the old strike and installed this new one. We pushed it in place from the inside of the door until it clicked in place, now works great Read more

I disassembled my dryer and found that the fan(blower wheel) was "free-spinning" on the motor shaft. A common problem with this model Maytag dryer. I also discovered that the right drum roller (drum support roller) was in the process of failing. Note: the fan drive was frozen on the motor shaft, this was the threaded type of motor and fan assembly. Replaced dried crumbling rubber foot. Cleaned inside and outside of dryer before installing igniter cleared vent hose. Leveled unit installed dryer igniter. Fired it up.Runs Great Now. Read more

I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off with their pad so metal was rubbing against metal. I previously ordered the heating element, thermostat, and fuse. Also the rear drum rollers. However, after completing that repair I noticed that the terminal block and power cord had some damage from an apparent overheating while allowing the dryer to continue to run in order to dry the clothes. Blower wheel and clamp replacement. Initially, we replaced both the belt and drum roller wheels but that did not stop the noise. By reviewing videos on YouTube and AppliancePartsPros, we suspected that the blower wheel could be problematic, even though with front panel of dryer off, we did not see any visual clues to support that theory. Found the right part at AppliancePartsPros.com, ordered the part, watched the tutorial. Took less than 5 minutes to install new door seal, and now our laundry area is no longer hot and humid.
