The Shock Absorber is an OEM part designed for Whirlpool washing machines. This part helps to dampen the motion of the tub during the spin cycle, reducing vibrations and noise. By absorbing the energy produced during operation, the shock absorber contributes to the stability and longevity of the machine. A well-functioning set of shock absorbers is essential for maintaining the washer's performance and preventing damage to other components.
Causes of a bad shock absorber can include wear and tear from regular use, excessive load sizes or unbalanced loads, and structural damage from moving or improper handling.
Symptoms of a bad Shock Absorber include:
- Increased vibration and noise during the spin cycle
- The washer moving or "walking" across the floor
- Unusual wear on other components due to excessive movement
This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Now we have a very quiet washer and dryer again...
