This Maytag dryer was bought in 1985 if memory serves. It has worked hard with few repairs done by yours truly over the years. Got the model number off the dryer. Looked it up online. I wanted name brand replacement part. Found this wonderful AppliancePartsPros.com. Looked up my model number, went to top control panel section, ordered the Start Switch. In ONE DAY I received it. Removed the back part of my dryer. Easily removed the broken part. Replaced the Rollers, Pins, belt and belt tensioner. One thing to keep in mind. In the video it was said that the back and front roller pins were different by lengths. They were the same length for my model. The differences were found to be the rear pins have left handed threads and the front ones were standard right hand threads. Keep that in-mind when you are trying to remove them. Read more

I referenced the repair video. Very straightforward and easy. Only need 3 tools: 1/4 and 5/16 nut drivers and Philips head screwdriver. About 15 minute job. Surprising how much lint and dust build up inside the chassis, was able to clean that out too. Read more

• Too hot

The heating element had a break in the heater coils, so I replaced it with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. I also replaced the thermal fusible link and thermostat switch because they were so cheap it just made sense to go ahead and do it while I was in there. I also cleaned every nook & cranny in the dryer, then cleaned out the vent piping- which was about 100% clogged. I replaced the motor and all other moving components along with the felt drum seals.drum glides and drive belt. The wiring instruction is where i had the most problems. After having replaced the drum support rollers twice in a roughly 3yr period, I realized something wasn't quite right, and indeed it wasn't. I had been ordering the wrong parts - I did use the online parts locator after checking, & double checking my model number. I had to pop the lid up from the front with a screw driver, and behind the element was a metal piece, a heat shield, that had two screws that had to be removed from the back. The little part with the blue round tag (part of the kit that came with the element) was easily removed with one screw. I removed the front panel of the dryer and the metal cover over the blower wheel. Removed the lock ring and clamp. Removed the old wheel and placed the new wheel on the shaft. I thoroughly cleaned all the lint around the area and inside the front cover. I resealed the metal cover over the blower and reinstalled the front cover. Dryer works great. Easy fix, I spent more time thoroughly cleaning all the lint. Read more

I replace the old timer with the new one I purchased from appliance parts pros.com I removed the nuts from back of top console of the dryer. Removed the electrical prongs from the old timer and then replace with new timer than plug dryer in wall and started the dryer on timed cycle and the heating elements kicked in and my wife was smiling from ear to ear.
