I replaced the burner. The cook top had an exhaust fan attached which made the repair much harder. I know now you can remove the exhaust fan and duct from the bottom which would have saved me a lot of time. Read more

Majority of the time was removing and prepping the radiant cooktop with the protection tape and foam tape. Used the ordered replacement parts. Turns out that the old dual radiant element was cracked in multiple places and was truly functional. So ended up replacing it. The culprit was the switch. I ordered the 8 inch Haliant Element from Appliance Parts Pro with overnight shipping (I needed to have it working for Easter weekend!) and it arrived when promised and in perfect condition! To replace, you need a couple of boards longer than the stove is wide to hold the stove above the counter. You will also need a T15 Torx head on a handle or socket wrench. I broke two of the elements in my GE Profile cooktop because I failed miserably at removing the glass top. It pays to do your research, kiddies. All it takes is a Number 10 Torx bit to remove 12 screws holding the glass to the body of the appliance, and it lifts straight up. I was replacing the glass because it broke during my home's construction.
