The Dual Coil is an OEM part for GE dryers. This is often referred to as the “M” coil. If you need to replace both the main coil and dual coil, it is recommended to order the kit 279834, which includes both coils for a comprehensive replacement.
Causes of a faulty dual coil can include wear and tear over time, electrical component failure, or damage due to overheating or excessive usage. These factors can result in insufficient heat production, inconsistent drying, or no heat at all.
Symptoms of a bad dual coil may include:
This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.
I checked out a few youtube videos on trouble shooting a gas dryer that would not heat, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8j6fQM3P34. Eliminated all the sensors as possible problems, leaving only the coils or more advanced problems. Took the chance it was one of the coils. I ordered both, replaced them both, put the dryer back together and fortunately that was the problem and it lit up and is running as good as new. Read more
The Main Coil is an OEM part for GE dryers. It is a crucial component of the gas valve assembly, responsible for opening the gas valve to allow gas flow to the burner, enabling the dryer to produce heat.
Causes of a bad main coil can include electrical faults such as short circuits or open circuits within the coil, wear and tear from prolonged use, or damage due to overheating. Over time, the coil's ability to control the gas flow can diminish, affecting the dryer's performance.
Symptoms of a bad main coil include:
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
This burner assembly is the combustion head for GE gas dryers. It mixes gas and air and directs a stable flame into the heater housing, restoring consistent heat when the original burner is corroded, warped, or clogged.
This valve and pipe assembly controls water flow to the refrigerator ice maker and dispenser, restoring reliable water delivery and ice production. It replaces a worn or leaking water inlet assembly to stop drips and restore proper fill cycles. What it does
First replaced the gas valve solenoids but that wasn't it. After further research, replaced the gas valve. The lock arm support on the new one didn't line up with the dryer lock base but I just bent the arm back a little to fit. Made sure to use gas tape (thicker) when reconnecting the gas pipe. Verified no leaks. No more high pitched buzzing noise. Read more
This gas valve and pipe assembly controls and routes natural gas from the appliance inlet to the burner manifold, restoring proper fuel flow for ignition and stable burner operation. Designed as a direct-replacement service part. What it does
The Water Valve is an OEM part for GE electric dryers. Located near the bottom of the machine, it controls water flow into the condenser system during moisture-sensing cycles.
The moisture sensing function uses this valve to introduce precise amounts of water vapor into the exhaust air stream periodically. This allows the condenser to capture moisture readings accurately and determine optimal cycle time based on humidity levels.
Causes of failure include mineral buildup restricting flow, worn seals enabling leaks, or misaligned internal components hindering valve movement.
Symptoms of a faulty water valve are:
This part is also compatible with some Kenmore models using GE components.
This gas valve regulates and safely delivers fuel to your dryer's burner. When operating correctly, it opens for ignition and closes when heat is satisfied, providing consistent, reliable heating for effective drying.
