The Evaporator Cover Gasket seals the perimeter of the freezer's evaporator cover to prevent air leaks that can lead to frost, moisture, and temperature swings. Replacing a worn gasket helps restore proper airflow and consistent cooling.
- Seals the evaporator cover to the liner to maintain directed airflow and contain cold air
- Helps prevent frost or ice buildup around the cover and on nearby air passages
- Can help address symptoms like temperature inconsistencies, poor cooling, or excess moisture caused by air leaks
- Replaces a torn, flattened, or missing gasket to ensure a tight cover fit
What's included: One evaporator cover gasket. Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves
- Remove freezer shelves/bins and the evaporator cover to access the gasket
- Clean mating surfaces; press the new gasket fully into place with no gaps or twists
- Ensure air vents are unobstructed, reinstall the cover securely, then restore power

Evaporator freezing up; warm freezer section Stuart F. • Albuquerque , NM • September 12, 2020
Volt Ohmmeter test indicated defrost thermostat and heater were OK. Defrost voltage measured ~25 VAC. I ordered all the most likely repair parts, but thought the control board had failed. I replaced the control board and the freezer has been working properly for several days. I haven't decided whether to keep or return the unused parts. I damaged the paint removing the electrical control. There must be a trick to protect the paint from the putty knife and screwdriver.
