The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into. It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Noticed that the ice level LED was off then removed the ice maker and checked voltage into the ice maker module (L n' V) and didn't get power. Checked continuity on the black wire (fuse) and found it ok. Checked the parts at AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered them. Came back once got the parts. Installed the new parts then noticed that the ice maker started cycling. Read more

Had to take the back cover off. It was very tight to remove the fan that sat in the drip pan but did get it off, was able to apply the same level of cursing and got the new pan installed, installing the drain tube was a breeze. Found the parts price very reasonable. Hoping the Whirlpool redesigned the pan so I won't have to do it ever again. I was surprised at how bad the quality of their original part was. The evaporator fan had stopped working and caused the entire area around it to ice up. No air flow was getting from the freezer to the fridge. I replaced the damper control (it was rusted, not sure if it was workign or not) and the evaporator fan. It was a very quick repair once I diagnosed the problem. The most time consuming part was taking all the compartments apart to get to the affected area. Read more
