Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W10422851
The Ice Auger is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This component is essential for the proper functioning of the ice dispensing system. The auger rotates to move ice from the ice bin through the dispenser chute, allowing ice cubes to be dispensed efficiently.
Over time, the ice auger can become worn out, broken, or jammed due to regular use or the buildup of ice and debris. Causes of a bad ice auger include wear and tear, damage from foreign objects in the ice bin, or issues with the motor that drives the auger.
Symptoms of a bad ice auger include:
- The ice dispenser not dispensing ice
- Grinding or unusual noises from the ice dispenser
- Ice cubes getting stuck or not moving through the chute
- Inconsistent or slow ice dispensing
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Ice maker auger not working right Betty H. • Tahlequah , OK • April 03, 2014
Had to replace the auger. The auger on my ice maker was made of plastic and had broken pieces off it. The new one is made of metal and seems to work much better. Was a fairly simple repair. However pay close attention when disassembling, I recommend using your cell phone and snap a pic of the different stages as I became a little confused when putting it back together. Ordered the part and it was here the next day. I'm very happy to have my ice coming down the chute again. By the way, I'm a 70...

Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 241726501
The Ice Auger Drive Bar is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It plays an important role in allowing the icemaker assembly to function properly by transmitting rotational force from the motor to the ice auger. Symptoms of a bad drive bar include:
- Ice cubes not dispensing when requested
- Noise or grinding sounds coming from the icemaker area
- Stalling or failure of the icemaker assembly to rotate fully
- Inability to harvest or eject ice from the ice molding trays
This Frigidaire OEM replacement part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some Kenmore models.

Genuine Whirlpool part

Part Number: WP12740302
The ice auger and crusher blade crush and shave the ice that dispenses on a refrigerator. This part can be used to repair a refrigerator that is no longer dispensing ice. Sometimes when the ice dispenser malfunctions and makes a loud noise but doesn't dispense cubed or shaved ice, the problem is with the auger and crusher blade. Perform a visual inspection of the auger and crusher blade to ensure no external damage is done to the components.Disconnect the refrigerator from its power source before starting this repair. Open the freezer door to access the ice bucket and dispenser area. The bucket is held in place by fastening clips that can be pushed to remove the bucket. Lay the bucket flat on its back with the auger and blade facing upwards. Remove the old auger and crusher blade by removing the four hex screws. Remove the helix end-cap from the old auger system and replace it with the new one. Repeat these steps in reverse to install the new component. This Whirlpool ice auger and crusher is a genuine OEM product sourced directly from Whirlpool. The part listed is only available individually and is not included with any other parts or original appliances. This part is compatible with Whirlpool, Amana, Kenmore, and Maytag appliances.

Ice maker was not ejecting cubes. Would make ice but never flip completely over to spill them into the tray. Lorenzo Z. • Rutherfordton , NC • March 12, 2014
Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process.
