The Icemaker is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It automatically produces batches of ice using a water inlet and freeze cycle.
Causes can be failures in the temperature probe, water valve, ejection mechanism, or freezing compartment. Mineral buildup from hard water reduces efficiency over many harvest cycles as well.
Symptoms of a bad ice maker include:

Just missed having decent ice trays. The only ones I could find were either:
1. Expensive
2. Flimsy - only lasted a couple of months
3. Silicone-bottomed that half the compartments leak after a few uses
These are the wonderful old fashioned kind that are easy to use and last forever. Just didn’t think I’d find them again!
