Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process. The repair took about ten minutes and is something I have never done before. I am guessing we saved over $100 by ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com and doing the job...

Removed the old one and replaced it with Appliance Parts Pros ice maker. Result...#ice!
This was for a bottom freezer model, which required removing the freezer door to be able to access the icemaker. Once I was able to crawl into the freezer by lying on the floor the actual removal and replacement was relatively easy.

We had a sears tech come out and "inspect" our freezer - he said it was one of the 2 vales behind the fridge that needed to be replaced. I found them for 50 bucks each on amazon... but then I thought I might shop around.
Then i found this kit - that has the 2 valves AND the icemaker assembly for basically the same price.
I went ahead and swapped out the icemaker assembly since it didn't involve getting behind the fridge. the next morning - BOOM ice. lots of ice.

Had to replace the ice container assy. They do not sell just the Ice Crusher assy. Bummer.
It is a very easy fix. Just pull out old Ice Container Assy and replace with new one.
