Defroster in freezer not functioning causing the freezer to frost up and the fridge to not cool appropriately Eddie R. • Debary , FL • January 06, 2015
I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over...

However, my daughter and I got the job done and the fridge is working great again! The videos on the parts ordering were the biggest help, straightforward and...

Freezer and refrigerator not cold enough Jennifer M. • Ny , NY • July 10, 2018
Yes, a 49-yr old woman fixed this fridge all by herself! AppliancePartsPros was very helpful in the diagnosis of the problem, which I determined to likely be the result of defrost failure. There was a large amount of ice and frost coating the back of the freezer despite the inside temp being 42 degrees. My husband thought I was crazy to think it was a problem with ice when the temperature was warm, but I told him to trust me and I would attempt the repair. He just wanted to throw the old one...

I chose to replace both parts so I wouldn't have to go back into the freezer. I used only a screw driver, pliers and the gas lighter to heat the wire connector sleeves. I watched the available do it yourself videos and was done in less than 30 minutes. It has worked perfectly since. No more Ice build up in the freezer. I had no trouble finding the exact parts I needed on your website.

Freezer was not cooling Brian N. • Huntsville , AL • December 18, 2015
Got the six year old refrigerator from my daughter because of it freezing up but was in good ( Stainless Steel) shape to replace our 21 year old Kitchen Aid. The thermistor had been replaced as a cheap first step but didn't correct the problem as it totally froze over within five days.
I decided to tear down again and check the defrost heater element which was found to have an open circuit and hence the replacement part. Thanks to AAP, I ordered the part at the weekend, was shipped on Monday...

Refigerator not cold Robert B. • Parlin , NJ • July 10, 2016
Having never fixed a fridge before, I did a little research. The unit was not old & the cooling system was operating. Observing the frozen ice inside, I diagnosed it as the heat rod and/or it's thermostat as bad. I contacted ApplianceParts Pros, who assisted in confirming my theory. IMPORTANT NOTE: the sales advisor Joyce was truly an intelligent, knowledgable professional, NOT some "burger-order taker" usually encountered. This alone speaks VOLUMES. Subsequently, the parts arrived...

Freezer very cold and fridge warm Randall S. • Pawcatuck , CT • October 01, 2014
Replaced defrost heater, temperature and defrost limiter thermostat. After taking the cover off the air chiller I found the coils frozen solid and defrosted it with a hair dryer. Once defrosted I remover the heater coil to test it it was fine, then I could see the defrost limiter was broken and as I put the unit back together I broke the heater tube (it is glass) so I ordered all the parts that might be defective and replaced them for less than the charge of having some one come to check it out.

When I opened up the back of freezer compartment to access the evaporator coils, I found ice and frost totally blocking the cold air flow. Turns out the bottom one of the two heater bulbs (quartz heater bulbs) was bad, so both heater bulbs...

The refrigerator was building up ice on the evaporator to the point that it was interfering with the cooling fan Louis R. • Corpus Christi , TX • May 14, 2016
I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermo fuse, and the heating element that thaws the evaporator on a cycle to keep the evaporator from freezing up. The most time consuming part of the repair was waiting for the fridge to thaw out so that I could remove the cover. I disconnected the fridge the night before and placed a fan on low with the doors open so that it was thawed out when I awoke. It was easy to remove the evaporator cover once I removed all of the shelves. I took pics as i was...

I have had the unfortunate problem of fixing this previously, so knew what to order. I ordered the defrost sensor and heater... and replaced both. Honestly, all I needed was the sensor I did and ohm test and got 0 on it... meaning it was bad, but just in case I replaced the heater.
The fridge works great now, but I would suggest if this is your first time with this issue, remove the panel, unplug both sensors from the fridge, and do and ohm test while they are still in the fridge... and then...

After reviewing a number of testimonials and your videos from your APP.com site I determined my most likely problem was either the defrost heater, thermostat, timer or possibly all three.
