Whirlpool Agitator Parts

Replaced agitator and washplate bolt and washer. Normally this would have been a 5 min job, however the bolt wouldn't come loose. The teeth on the agitator were worn down and the shaft the bolt screws into would turn with the bolt when trying to loosen it. I had to cut out the agitator using a dremel and hold the shaft in place with a vise grip in order to unscrew the bolt. Once the bolt was out I used WD-40 to help get the agitator off the gears. It was fairly simple, unbolted the agitator and pulled the old one out then put in the new...although when when a load became unbalanced the rocking motion slowly strips the bolt, I would suggest if replacing this unit also order the bolt. I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. A buddy of mine gave me a washer and said if you can fix it you can have it, It doesn't spin. I tried running a spin cycle and found that it did try to spin but was very noisy. My wife noticed that our washing machine was making a terrible rumbling noise and seemed to be out of balance all of the time. Bought a new upper agitator/filter housing. Just slide it over the bottom agitator housing and put the cap from the old one on the new one. Takes maybe 3 minutes to do. The screen inside the lower part of the housing/filter holds it snug to the bottom housing and does not fly off during the spin cycle. Works great. Read more

Simple by using 7/16 socket with long extension to remove the bolt and pull the whole agitator out and clean them. Put back in together with new parts. It works fine now. Read more

Opened lid during cycle and found upper agitator not turning.Removed dust cover seal and saw cam turning but dogs were only engaging once in a while.Although I didn't need to replace the upper agitator I did anyway,along with the agitator cam kit.
