This is a rubber gasket seal that fits between the outer tub halves or around the tub ring of a washing machine, creating a watertight seal to prevent leaks during the wash and spin cycles. It compresses between the tub components when they are clamped together. Replace this seal if you notice water leaking from around the outer tub, pooling under the washer, or if the seal appears cracked, hardened, or deformed.
This was some repair! My SG1000 stackable is over 30 years old and was purchased second hand. Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board.
