• Freezer not defrosting

My unit has a bottom freezer that is a drawer. I had to remove the drawer, rack, glides, glide tracks, and ice maker to remove the rear panel. This was a little difficult but after researching a few videos on line I learned some tricks that made it easier. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice. I purchased replacement parts to completely replace basket, face plate, and rollers. I received exactly what I ordered. The only problem I had was removing the part(s) from the shipping box. I thought the part came assembled (as rollers had been installed onto the basket), but the face plate had not been snapped into place. Had to take the back cover off. It was very tight to remove the fan that sat in the drip pan but did get it off, was able to apply the same level of cursing and got the new pan installed, installing the drain tube was a breeze. Found the parts price very reasonable. Hoping the Whirlpool redesigned the pan so I won't have to do it ever again. I was surprised at how bad the quality of their original part was. Tried to put refrigerator in defrost mode and defrost would not initiate. Checked the bi-metal and heater, both tested good. Replaced the ADC board and refrigerator went in to defrost. problem solved. Read more

First had to clean inside the empty freezer, that was the hard part. removed old gasket and cleaned inside the track in the door. had the new gasket well warmed and in the right shape. put new gasket in track. seating it firmly. It was very easy. I did watch a couple of online videos to get the general idea of what it detailed.
