I referenced the repair video. Very straightforward and easy. Only need 3 tools: 1/4 and 5/16 nut drivers and Philips head screwdriver. About 15 minute job. Surprising how much lint and dust build up inside the chassis, was able to clean that out too. Read more

I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully. So when the bearings started to get loud I thought it best to replace them, the seal kit and the belt. I did my research as best I could and decided to order the OEM parts from an appliance supplier. 18 year old Maytag Atlantis top load washer had a load knocking and rattle sound with excessive vibration when the tub was spinning, but not when it was agitating. They was no water leaking. Removed old bellow following procedures found on relevant Youtube videos. Reinstalling however was more of a challenge. Getting the rear seal of the new bellow on the washer housing was not as easy as the videos indicated. The key to that process is being sure the seal is well lubricated which is not quite apparent from the videos but is essential success. I used the internet and checked a dry fuse, and it tested ok. Checked the start switch, ok. So it had to be the motor. Sharon at the company agreed. Motor, and belt arrive very fast. ordered the belt because, if I had it apart why not change it. Internet also helped get the dryer apart. Took the whole dryer apart to access the wheels (4) of them, belt and fan wheel, also had to clean all the lint out that somehow builds up inside the dryer. Plus cleaned out dryer duct vent, added to the time involved. I had the original sensors in my Frigidaire, which were now about 18 years old. The water dispenser would work, but I would have to push in the lever and then draw it back until it found that "sweet spot." I finally got annoyed enough with the problem that I looked online. I almost purchased the dispenser actuator (the paddle), and glad I didn't because it was not the problem. I ordered the hinge on the weekend and it came on Tuesday in the late Morning. I loved how quick it arrived. The swap out of the part took 10 minutes using a batter powered driver, a #2 Phillips tip and a T-25 tip. If you use hand tools, it will take a few minutes longer. If I would have realized how easy it was, I would have replaced it when it started sagging instead of waiting for it to break. Read more
