Used U-Tube diagnostic clips to diagnose that most likely problem was a worn Evaporator Fan Motor which is located in the freezer back wall, located in the top third of the unit. I removed 6 hex head screws from the freezer's interior back panel that covers the evaporator coils. The cover is located in the lower 2/3s of the back wall. Removed all shelving. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. • Freezer section too warm

The fan has a very thin wire in it's coil, and when that wire breaks, you need a new fan. In a previous repair, i noticed that an ice build-up had dislodged the wiring on my fan and severed the coil winding. I was able to undo the winding a couple of turns and get it working again. FIrst, I removed the cardboard cover on the back, exposing the compressor compartment. I noticed the fan was not moving. I touched the blade and it immediately started spinning, but not very fast. The compressor was getting hot, and I think prob. overheating. The fan stopped after a few hours and then "froze" solid the next day. I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above.
