Had to take the back cover off. It was very tight to remove the fan that sat in the drip pan but did get it off, was able to apply the same level of cursing and got the new pan installed, installing the drain tube was a breeze. Found the parts price very reasonable. Hoping the Whirlpool redesigned the pan so I won't have to do it ever again. I was surprised at how bad the quality of their original part was. I replaced the defrost thermostat and the defrost timer. That corrected the problem. Be careful when ordering your parts. I put in my model# and they gave me a defrost timer that was incorrect. I had to return at my cost and order the correct one. Don't assume because you put in your model# that the part is correct.
