The seal at the bottom of the tub had started to fail. On large loads water would leak so I ordered a new one rubber seal. Getting the trunnion off the transmission shaft was hard as it was calcified and corroded. I used a wire brush to get some of it off and then used a lot of WD-40. Agitator won't move or slips during wash? A worn drive shaft causes weak agitation. This shaft transfers motion from the gearcase to restore firm engagement.
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This is a plastic air dome that traps air and transmits water pressure changes to the pressure switch, which controls the water level inside the washer tub. It connects between the tub and the pressure switch hose. Replace this part if the washer overfills, underfills, or does not fill at all, as a cracked or clogged air dome prevents accurate water level sensing.
