The primary leak was the shaft seal around the main water valve shaft. After 15 years, it had failed. The repair was not difficult, but time consuming, since you should remove the dishwasher and lay it on its back. Holding the shaft out while forcefully applying the push-on nut was the only difficult part of the repair, since the push-on nut is very tight and made of very strong metal. We took off the front door cover and found that the vent had failed some time ago- the flap was frozen open, the motor did not work. We removed the three screws and the vent came of- putting the new one back was just that simple except that I had to remove the protective paper from the adhesive covered gasket around the surface of vent.
