Insulation, Sound Dampening Parts

My 9-year-old GE washer, in which I replaced the motor two years ago, developed an extremely loud roaring sound during the spin cycle. After reviewing stories here to pinpoint the problem, I replaced the tub bearing, mode shifter, and tub seal. I also installed a new tub nut, split washer, and belt. First went through the troubleshooting guide on the website and read the various stories and watched the repair videos for replacing the springs and suspension pads. Then before ordering any parts disassembled the machine only to the point of removing the cabinet to see if there were any obvious issues. I pulled the DW out, pulled off the old blanket pieces, vacuumed up the millions of small parts, then put the new blanket on, I did use some packing tape to hold it in place. Easy! The challenge was moving the unit out, then back in, but that was simply time and a little effort. Read more

I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. Removed stove top then removed burner pan. Took out insulation on the top and sides of the oven. Cleaned top of oven well and replaced old insulation with the new blanket purchased from applianceParts pros. Read more

I ordered the insulation kit for the range. Completely dismantled the range. Had to remove the remaining insulation. Then removed all evidence of the mice infestation. Scrubbed and deodorized the oven shell, covered all holes and entry places in the back and bottom with stainless steel screen. So not to interfere with air flow (this is a self cleaning range and gets very hot when cleaning.) Reassembled range, checked for gas leaks, and operation of all burners also oven operation. Ordered door glass assembly from appliance parts pros.com. Removed range door, disassembled door and replaced glass. Reassembled door and rehung door. Only problem was with the hinge mechanism. Had some difficulty remounting door, but ultimately figured it out. Very pleased with result. Saved big money vs cost of service call, etc. Read more
