After watching a video on how to replace this part, I was surprised at the amount of disassembley involved to replace the cover. The unit has to be moved out from under the counter about 10 inches to disconnect the door springs before removing the door. Next the hinges and the inner and outer panels have to be separated and then finally you have access to replace the trim panel. This facia panel replaces a damaged or worn control panel bezel to restore the dishwasher's front appearance and provide a secure surface for buttons and the control display. It keeps controls protected while improving cosmetic fit and finish. What it does:
Interior panel for dishwasher door that protects components and provides a finished surface. Replace if cracked, dented, or damaged to restore sealing.
Replaces the outer door panel on your dishwasher. Needed when the existing panel is dented, scratched, discolored, or you want a different finish.
Removed the original outer door retaining screws with torque bit. Unfortunately the new door was slightly thicker than the original. Therefore also removed (loosened) the control panel to fit the new door behind the control panel slots that the outer door was to slide tabs into. Fastened all screws back in place.
