Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You 20 year old Whirlpool dryer would stop mid cycle.   Jonathan S. • Alexandria , VA • August 29, 2020

I don't have a multimeter so couldn't check all voltages or resistances on suspect parts. I assumed it had to be the two thermostat units - the thermostat or the dryer cycling thermostat. These were not expensive parts so ordered both and installed both. Very easy to remove back panel and replace with the new parts, making sure the OEM numbers were the same. Put back panel on, plugged back in and it fired right up - time will tell if these were the culprits. Not much left electronics wise on... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My dryer wasn't heating   Jesus V. • Kissimmee , FL • March 27, 2017

PLEASE UNPLUG DRYER FIRST. This was my first attempt at trying to fix my dryer (Maytag SDE515DAYW). Order the element kit Part Number AP4046564. The installation was easier than I thought. Just removed the two front panels and I was able to reach the back of the dryer, under the drum (this is where the heat element was located), disconnected the wires (took pictures first) and removed the two screws that held the heat element. Pulled the part down and it just slid off. Connected all the wires... Read more

Thermistor Inlet
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WE04X20252

The Thermistor Inlet is an OEM part for GE dryers. As a temperature monitoring device, it senses air inlet temperatures entering the dryer drum each cycle. This thermistor provides feedback to regulating components like the control board and heating elements.

Symptoms of a faulty thermistor inlet include:

  • Unexpected fluctuation of inlet air temperatures
  • Issues activating or deactivating heating elements as needed
  • Potential safety trips from inaccurate temperature readings
  • Improper or inconsistent drying times

Causes of a bad thermistor can be normal wear over repeated uses and heat cycles. Mineral scale buildup may also impact sensor accuracy over time. Electrical faults could potentially disrupt functioning.

This OEM GE replacement ensures proper inlet temperature sensing once installed. Compatible with some Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore dryers as well, it maintains safe, consistent performance through accurate temperature feedback to dryer electronics.
