Ge Switch Gas Valve
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB24T10071

The Switch Gas Valve is an OEM part for GE ranges. It is responsible for controlling the flow of gas to the burners, allowing them to ignite and maintain a steady flame for cooking.

Causes of a bad switch gas valve can include wear and tear over time, buildup of debris or grease, or damage from repeated use or accidental impact. These issues can hinder the valve's ability to regulate gas flow effectively.

Symptoms of a bad switch gas valve include:

  • Burners not igniting
  • Irregular or weak flame
  • Gas odor near the stove
  • Inconsistent burner performance

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Won't start

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge monogram 48" 6 burner lp with griddle   Dalena W. • Weatherford , TX • November 01, 2015

Ordered an igniter switch for $21.95. (the left front handle was turned the wrong although clearly marked: Off, Lite, X-high, high, med, low, simmer. Guess some folks cannot read and deduce.) When we returned from out of town to relieve the sitting family members I noticed the left front burner handle was sitting at 11 o'clock instead of true OFF at 12, straight up and down. When I would correct the position the ignitor would begin until I once again would back it up until the light would go... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Clicking from ignitor mode would not stop after burner lit   Jeffrey Maclachlan V. • Nederland , CO • September 03, 2017

Turned out the little switches on the knob shaft had corroded and were staying on. There was constant continuity showing with an ohm meter. Replacing the switches was very easy (always disconnect power to the unit before servicing). Bought a new ignitor module as a backup as they do go out of production after 10 years or so- another cheap and easy fix if needed in the future. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You All igniters sparked continuously when all burner gas switches were turned off   Donald A. • Palatine , IL • October 03, 2018

Refer to Mynor T. of Draper, UT Aug. 12, 2018 write-up. I benefited greatly from the above write-up. It took me a little less time to perform this repair (excluding cleaning the assembly) due to the write-up. This GE Profile gas burner cook top is a “drop-in” model meant to be installed into counter top cut outs. The glass top edges are the actual support area for the entire cook top assembly. The burner bases (on top of the glass top) are screwed to the metal case enclosure (located beneath... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge cooktop downdraft turned on whenever left burners were turned on spark igniter only worked on 2 of 4 burners   James M. • Kinnelon , NJ • December 19, 2015

After an exhaustive Internet search, I found someone who had taken apart my model cooktop and referred to his pictures. I had also found similar models where the downdraft went on inappropriately. That fix was easy, just finding the control switch and ensuring good contact with the burner apparatus. After that I took off the burner knobs and pried up the control panel with a small straight slot screwdriver. My spark igniters were 4 discreet pieces rather than a complete harness, with the left... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Igniters clicking while cook top off, needed new harness switch   Peter G. • Corinth , TX • May 20, 2019

Removed knobs ,burners, grates,etc.. Removed glass top. Removed wire harness switch. Wrote down location and sequence of removals. Reassembled same, and tried burners. All worked fine with no clicking when turned off. Be careful with glass top removal, use a thin putty knife to separate top from gasket seal. Seal must be in place before re positioning top. Reassemble in same sequence as removal. Read more
