If your gas burner won't light or keeps clicking after ignition, the igniter switch may be faulty. This switch closes when you turn the knob to spark.
Ordered an igniter switch for $21.95. (the left front handle was turned the wrong although clearly marked: Off, Lite, X-high, high, med, low, simmer. Guess some folks cannot read and deduce.) When we returned from out of town to relieve the sitting family members I noticed the left front burner handle was sitting at 11 o'clock instead of true OFF at 12, straight up and down. When I would correct the position the ignitor would begin until I once again would back it up until the light would go... Read more
Fix burners that won't spark or click constantly with this igniter switch. Mounts on the gas valve stem to activate spark ignition. Easy 15-minute repair.
Turned out the little switches on the knob shaft had corroded and were staying on. There was constant continuity showing with an ohm meter. Replacing the switches was very easy (always disconnect power to the unit before servicing). Bought a new ignitor module as a backup as they do go out of production after 10 years or so- another cheap and easy fix if needed in the future. Read more

Refer to Mynor T. of Draper, UT Aug. 12, 2018 write-up. I benefited greatly from the above write-up. After an exhaustive Internet search, I found someone who had taken apart my model cooktop and referred to his pictures. I had also found similar models where the downdraft went on inappropriately. That fix was easy, just finding the control switch and ensuring good contact with the burner apparatus. After that I took off the burner knobs and pried up the control panel with a small straight slot screwdriver. My spark igniters were 4 discreet pieces rather than a complete harness, with the left...
