General Electric Magnetron

This is the microwave's magnetron—the high-voltage tube that generates microwave energy to heat food. Replacing a failed magnetron can restore normal heating performance and consistent cooking. What it does and common symptoms:

• Produces the microwave energy that heats and cooks food
• Microwave runs but doesn't heat
• Loud humming or buzzing from the high-voltage section
• Trips the internal fuse or household breaker at start-up
• Unusual burning odor indicating an internal short

• 1 magnetron

• Unplug the microwave; the high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged.
• Handle the antenna dome carefully; avoid touching or contaminating its surface.
• Transfer any required brackets, insulators, or thermal cutouts from the original part as designed; ensure correct orientation and secure mounting for proper cooling.
• Reinstall all covers, grounds, and door-interlock components exactly as designed before testing.
