Ge Capacitor
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH12X10462

The Capacitor is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It stores and releases electrical energy to help start the motor and regulate its speed, ensuring the washer operates efficiently and reliably. This component is crucial for maintaining the performance and longevity of the washing machine.

Causes of a bad capacitor can include electrical surges, wear and tear from regular use, or physical damage due to impact. Over time, capacitors can degrade, leading to reduced functionality or complete failure. Regular inspection can help identify potential issues early.

Symptoms of a bad capacitor include:

  • The washer not starting or struggling to start
  • Motor running inconsistently or not at full speed
  • Unusual noises during operation
  • Error codes related to motor function

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Hotpoint vlsr1090g5ww wouldn't agitate or spin.   Chuck G. • Douglas , MI • October 03, 2022

Washer would run through the cycle, but not agitate. I had to wait for it to pump down the water level to check spin, which also was not working. The motor would buzz when it should run, but not rotate, hard to hear for spin because the pump was running. Found I could start it by hand very easily by giving the pulley a spin, so I figured start switch, but there didn't appear to be one. I found what looked like a start capacitor zip tied to the chassis midway up the front, so my second guess was... Read more

Over time, capacitors can fail due to electrical surges, overheating, or degradation of the internal components. When a capacitor goes bad, it can affect the microwave's ability to generate heat and operate efficiently.

Symptoms of a bad Capacitor include:

  • The microwave not heating food
  • Unusual humming or buzzing noises
  • The microwave shutting down or not starting

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge monogram zmc1095sf02 microwave   Christopher L. • Saint Charles , IL • December 15, 2014

Wife let me know the microwave was making grinding noise while I was in garage fixing her car starter, never a dull moment. Further questioning she also said it wan't heating the food. Due to being an odd sized built in $$ unit I had to have repaired. I was getting quotes in the $4-500 range for just the magnetron. I was pretty confident the magnetron was the issue and also ordered a new capacitor and diode since I was going to be in there and a lot of money ahead repairing myself. About... Read more

Ge High-Voltage Capacitor (Microwave)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27X11031

This is the microwave's high-voltage capacitor. It stores and releases energy in the high-voltage circuit to power the magnetron so food heats. A failed capacitor can cause no heat, loud humming, or blown fuses.

  • Works with the high-voltage transformer and diode to supply the magnetron with operating voltage
  • Stores and smooths high-voltage DC in the microwave's power circuit
  • Failure may result in no heat while lights and turntable still run
  • Can cause loud buzzing, sparking, or a burning smell during operation
  • May open the internal fuse or trip a breaker when the cycle starts
What's included: 1 high-voltage capacitor Install notes:
  • Unplug the appliance; capacitors can retain a dangerous charge—properly discharge the capacitor before servicing
  • Photograph wire routing; transfer leads one at a time and secure the capacitor firmly in its bracket

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave oven was not heating   Scott S. • Charlotte , NC • June 20, 2017

I ordered the capacitor, diode, and magnetron in hopes that I would be able to complete the repair using the less expensive parts. I first removed the oven from the wall and then I removed the metal housing to access the internal parts. I discharged the capacitor using a pair of insulated needle nose pliers. Then I changed out the diode and the capacitor and reassembled the unit and tested it. It still did not heat so I disassembled the unit again and replaced the magnetron this time.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Drum would not rotate intermittently.   Robert L. • Cary , NC • May 24, 2019

The Dryer is 10 years old GE Front Load DPVH890JEMG. The drum would intermittently not rotate at the beginning of a cycle and occasionally would rotate but then start and stop throughout the cycle. I did not check error codes, but the windings on the motor were black. So it seemed reasonable that the motor was overheating and sending a signal to the control board to stop. There is one screw under the knob and 9 screws on the front to get inside. I decided to replace the bearings, capacitor,... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave would power on, but no heat.   Mike P. • Monument , CO • April 29, 2022

I took the advice of another buyer and replaced the magnetron, capacitor, and diode from my microwave (make sure you discharge the capacitor). It was not a problem at all to do, I did find an excellent video on YouTube on how to test all of these components and almost anything else in a microwave. It’s called Microwave Oven Troubleshooting in Minutes- Step by Step by electronicsNmore. It was the best thing I watched. Turns out my magnetron was the only thing that was bad and it’s the most... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fan on my ge profile stove hood quit working   David S. • Bristol , TN • July 30, 2016

I removed the fan from inside the hood which was much easier to do that expected since only one screw needed to be removed. It took two of us to get this double drum fan lowered. The fan turned freely but would not start so I got into the electronics and identified the problem as the two large start capacitors. The cost to replace the fan from GE was $1,200 and their cost for capacitors was $87 dollars a piece. I contacted Appliance Part Pros and chatted with their service department who easily... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge microwave oven stopped heating food   Joseph P. • Placerville , CA • February 13, 2016

Mostly when it comes to microwaves not heating up food, your problem is the high voltage diode, capacitor, or the magnetron. I started with the diode (cheapest of the three parts). I couldn't accurately test the diode as my handheld meter didn't have enough power for the diode checker. Replaced the diode, no change. Ordered the capacitor, installed, and now she's heating up like the day I bought her. Cost of parts: $110. Cost of similar microwave oven (new): $300. Going to get another... Read more
