Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You I am an idiot don't be me   Tim M. • Yuma , AZ • January 13, 2020

I broke two of the elements in my GE Profile cooktop because I failed miserably at removing the glass top. It pays to do your research, kiddies. All it takes is a Number 10 Torx bit to remove 12 screws holding the glass to the body of the appliance, and it lifts straight up. I was replacing the glass because it broke during my home's construction. Anyway, you need a 1/4" nut driver to remove the mounting tabs on the bottom of the old element and transfer them to the new one. The whole swap out... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dual burner smaller inner burner was not heating up when selected; by itself or along with the larger burner   Robert V. • Las Vegas , NV • September 24, 2015

I wasn't sure of the problem, but after reading a lot on appliancepartspros.com on my model and symptoms, I narrowed it down to the dual burner selector switch or the Dual element. I didn't have a lot of time to take everything apart to diagnose it, so I ordered both items. The parts came quickly and was competitively priced (Amazon was slightly cheaper, but didn't offer the same return policy). It took a few of us. One to vacuum up the fire extinguisher residue. One to trip the breaker. One to provide light. One to clean out under the stove while it was pulled out. I disconnected the bake element. I needed help to disconnect one of them because it was very tight. I put the element into the oven and reconnected the right side, very easy. The left side fell back into the slot. Curses ensued. I removed the back plate and it was very easy to thread the left wire back into the oven and... Read more
