The Lid Assembly is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This part is the lid of the washer. It is essential for securely covering the washer drum, preventing water from splashing out during the wash cycle, and allowing safe operation by ensuring the washer does not run with the lid open. Causes of a bad lid assembly can include general wear and tear, physical damage from heavy loads or impacts, or issues with the hinges or latch mechanisms. Symptoms of a bad lid assembly include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Removing and Replacing (R&R) the parts took about 15 minutes. Getting the correct parts took several weeks. It was a severe struggle. I literally could have done this job with a blindfold on! No kidding. Come on people! My grandmother could have done this one! Since the rubber gasket/skirt in the front of the washer (seals the door) was twisted when the spring failed and the drum failed, I had to remove the wire hoop and spring that held it in place and readjust the skirt. Easy. Them I removed the top of the washer (6 screws). Easy. Immediately you could see the failed spring. I ordered 2 springs so I could replace both... Read more

GE Front load washer drum belt. Size: 48.4 inches at rest postion and 51.2 inches when working.
I replaced the broken drive belt first and noticed the drive pulley loose. The nut that had held it in place had backed off. This resulted in significant wear on the pulley hub. I just tightened it up and installed the belt. I noticed the belt had a tendency to change its position on the pulley depending on the direction of rotation. I was a bit concerned but decided to see what would happen. This fix lasted for about a week. The belt came off the pulley and broken again. I called a... Read more

Drive pulley mounts to the washer basket shaft and routes the belt from the motor. Replace if worn, cracked, loose, or showing play on the shaft.
Replaced the shaft & mode shifter assembly. Also replaced the pulley as it had taken some damage from the wobbling clutch dog. And replaced the tub seal since it's normally inaccessible with the shaft in place. This is an advanced repair that took a lot of time. Removing the tub nut took a 1 11/16" socket and a 700 ft-lb impact wrench and I had to hammer on the nut for several minutes to break it free of the tub. Disassembly of the washer is complete, and requires a lot of space for... Read more

Was most pleased that you sent an authentic GE part as promised since another company, who advertised same, sent me a refurbished piece that was totally unusable. You also saved us a considerable amount of money. Since we are not knowledgeable about installing electrical pieces, we had the condo handyman do it. It was done quickly and efficiently and works just fine. Thank you for your good and honest service.------Phyllis Wolpow Read more
