The GE front loading HE washer wound paused at the rinse fill point and need manual selection of drain & spin to finish the load. Online searches told me how to get the error code. Once E22 was found online searching told me it was a water flow problem- slow fill. I removed the hoses at the washer and inspected for clogs - nothing was found. Fix a washer that won't spin or agitates but doesn't spin properly. This mode shifter assembly switches between agitate and spin cycles. Advanced repair.
Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. I replaced the Timer knob components. Removing the cover that contains the Timer was simpler than I anticipated. Just remove the screws on the top of the back of the machine. Hold the cover and lift up and push to the left (facing the front of the washer). Removed the Timer Knob Clip with small needle-nose pliers. Grasped the Timer and turned counterclockwise to remove and unplugged the wiring clip. The timer is seated to the cover and held securely in place with one screw. I seated the new... Read more

I thought initially it was a hose because it was leaking water from the bottom. On the small and medium load it didn't leak. I watched it on the large setting and noticed the water didn't shut off initially so therefore it was over filling. I ordered a switch pressure switch from Appliance Parts Pros and received it in two days. I replaced the switch, put the washer together and now it works like new. Replacement drive pulley kit for washers. Mounts on the motor shaft to transfer power to the drum via belt. Replace if worn, cracked, or wobbling.
Found the belt was thrown off. Reinstalled the belt and when doing so felt that the pulley was wobbling on the barrel shaft. Took the pulley off and noticed the inside of the pulley was worn badly and needed to be replaced. When received the new pulley and belt easily installed and was working like new. Read more
