Personally I have experience working with electricity and knowing if I bought the part required this would be an easy fix. I determined the hidden bake element below the oven cavity was not working, because the bottom of the oven was cold during normal use. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. Full disassembly of removable tray into top plate (stainless) and lower pan taking care not to loose fasteners. Removal of terminal blocks using lubrication on rusted screws and, if necessary, drill out technique. Unclip wires from edges of the tray on both sides without losing the clips for future re-use. Top plate is now completely free of connections and may be cleaned/scrubbed separately in advance of re-assembly. Unfasten spade insulation block (located in the front of the tray) after... I completely disassembled the entire unit sandblasted repainted with epoxy paint and reassembled. bought a few new parts and its like new again this unit is no longer available and its built into my boat. Read more

After an appliance repairman said he couldn't fix it because the cartridge was no longer available, I called AppliancePartsPros.com. Not being much of a handyman I ordered the whole 2 coil unit for a simple fix. However, after waiting on backorder for several months, it turned out to be discontinued. Original cable and routing was not engineered properly. Cable was on back order for over a month from KitchenAid factory. Daily use kinked and wore out the wires inside the cable. KitchenAid changed the cable routing and doubled the length of the cable. Instructions were limited and not very clear. The biggest problem was figuring out how to release the drawer slides. And there was very little room to get your hands and arms in behind the drawer. I hope this was a once in an appliance-life... Read more
