I drained the dishwasher by hand, disconnected power, water, and drain under the sink. I removed the screws holding the dishwasher in place. I located the pump with the online owners manual and removed it leaving the power connected. I put the machine on the rinse cycle and then hit cancel, the pump is supposed to come on, it didn't, I tried it twice, each time it would start if I manually started it spinning. I noticed the floor around the dishwasher was starting to get wet and warp the wooden floor. The chopper had gotten out of line and had cut a pinhole into the sump housing and the dishwasher was leaking badly. It was quite easy to repair. Just unhook the drain hose and the wire connectors, twist off the turbidity sensor and waste motor, pull out the shims and the whole assemple comes up and out. 1st we took the inside washer arms out and made sure they were clean and not blocked by something . When That failed, I called a local appliance repairman . Because the dishwasher made noise only when washing or rinsing, and not when filling, the problem was correctly diagnosed as a faulty circulation pump. Although not difficult, it took more time to remove the dishwasher from under the counter and to reinstall it (approximately one hour) than it took to swap out the circulation pump (5 minutes). Ordered a new pump and installed, took about 15 min. Reinstalled the dishwasher and tested still not draining. Disassembled and checked for pump power and found no problem. Removed drain hose from pump housing and found a blockage cleaned out blockage and hooked up the shop vac to drain hose under sink and made sure it was clean.
