Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Freezer was cold but refrigerator was warm   Susandelong D. • Durham , ME • October 14, 2016

The evaporator fan had stopped working and caused the entire area around it to ice up. No air flow was getting from the freezer to the fridge. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Getting ff error evaporator fan would run just a short time after resetting pwr   Jack T. • Athens , GA • December 21, 2014

Removed the freezer drawers, ice maker, and panel that the fan motor is attached to. Changed out the fan motor reinstalled everything and plugged it in, and presto. I had ordered the control board just in case but didn't need it. The fan motor wasn't the easier part to replace but it was the cheaper of the two. Because the old motor would run for just a short time I assumed that it wasn't sending a signal back to the control board telling it that it was running. I was right!! Read more

Used Google to troubleshoot the issue. Inside the freezer I took the back off. Noticed two things. The evaporator motor was not turning and the top half of the coils were frozen over. Obvious fan not spinning issue. I felt the motor and it was hot. Spun the fan it it started spinning. Put it all back together. Ran OK for 5-6 more days then same issue. I ordered the new motor and then and spun the fan again. It lasted for 2 days. Had to spin the fan to get it going 2 more times until... Read more
