• Doesn't shut off

After a power surge caused by an electrical pole cross-arm breaking, our LG french door refrigerator wouldn't make ice, and both fridge and freezer were getting warmer. Replaced motor and new solenoid and yoke assembly, motor ran fine but Ice maker did not make Ice, water was turned on and the wire off and on latch was is the down position (on). Disconnected the water line from the Ice maker tray, ice had formed in the line while I was waiting for my parts (about 5 days), I would suggest disconnecting the water line at the feed end were your shut off valve is located and allow water to drain out of line. Went online and searched for LG refrigerator error codes and discovered that code was freezedr fan failure. Ordered and replaced freezer fan motor assembly. Took longer to remove food from you freezer than to replace fan motor. Freezer working great now. Read more

Removed hosed fan motor, part has to be ordered locally, 1 week delivery. Wired 12 volt PC fan to wall wart, duct taped in place. Ordered part, waited. Installed on arrival. PC fan saved everything during the wait,saved 18-20 bucks on the part from APP vs.Sears. Winner. Read more

I removed both basket guides, removed the ice cube maker then removed the back wall panel, all only taking around 10 min. This gave me access to the fan, removed 2 more screws, disconnected 3 wires, all with connectors, then went in reverse to install new fan. 1/4" nut driver and a pair of needle nose pliers is all you need. The pliers are to remove the plastic wire keepers on the fan. Read more

The unit is 15 years old. Instead of just replacing the Adaptive Defrost Control Board , I opted to replace all parts related to include the Heating Element, Defrost Thermostat, and the Evaporator Fan Motor. I feel it was worth the extra money and piece of mind not to worry about what would fail next.
