Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher wasn't cleaning, water came in and would discharge   Timothy H. • Apple Valley , MN • April 19, 2020

It was a learning experience. First I turned off the power! I removed the lower kick plate, disconnected the drain hose and electrical connectors. Then removed the discharge pump and heat sensor then loosened the 4 hold down arms/clamps. Then I opened the door and pulled the base up from the inside. Now to remove and replace the Pump Motor. Then reverse the process. If I were to do again, I'd pull the dishwasher out and lay it on its back. Read more

Kitchenaid Water Level Float
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10195036

  • The dishwasher not completing cycles correctly
  • Error codes related to water level issues

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchenaid dishwasher top rack falling apart   Gerald S. • York , PA • February 02, 2016

Ordered numerous replacement parts. Started with the tracks which required pulling the washer out of the cabinet to reach the screws. Pushed it back in and re-secured. Then stared on the rack and replaced the rack adjusters and various clips. Everything is straight forward and easy to replace. I originally called a local repair place to have them repair it. They came out and said they needed to order parts and they would call back. A week went by and I followed up with them. Had to leave... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Rusty racks crumbling silverware basket obstructed discharge valve clogged mesh on the food grinder   Yuriy M. • Mountain View , CA • May 15, 2015

Just replaced the things. Had to reuse old tine rows, rollers, the spray arm, etc., i.e. I removed 'em from the old racks and put on the new ones, but that was piece of cake. Also, I cleaned the food grinder and the discharge valve compartment (thank you very ???? ???? much, Internet), so spray arms around the top rack get enough water pressure now. I didn't have to buy any parts for the latter part of this little repair project, though. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchenaid dishwasher would not complete wash cycle   John M. • Lillian , AL • July 31, 2016

This was a difficult problem to diagnose. Because the machine would start the wash cycle then shut down after a few minutes of running, it appeared that the cause might be a bad thermostat or heating element, but all checked out ok. That led me to believe that the control panel may be the culprit but it also appeared to be working correctly when I ran the diagnostics program. A visual examination of the components found that the door switch electrical connections looked discolored, so I removed... Read more

I hated to call a repair Guy, because by the time it takes them to do the service call and then order the part, then schedule another appointment. It would be at least two weeks. I figured I would just buy a new Dishwasher and have it delivered the next day. That was before I saw the price of a new dishwasher. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Odor in dishwasher stuck valve in vertical tube replace check valve   Victor F. • Durham , NC • December 26, 2014

The odor in the dishwasher was due to scum buildup in the walls, the racks, and in the lower part of the drain below the lower rotating arm. One of the valves in the vertical tube was stuck in the open position; since the valves cannot be replaced, the entire tube needed replacement. The check valve probably needed no replacement, but once I opened the bottom part, I decided to replace it anyway. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The clean light blinking 7 times.   Kevin S. • Rochester , MN • January 14, 2023

After reviewing the other repair stories related to this "7 blinking light" syndrome, I contacted their support staff via Chat. I relayed my symptoms along with model number of dishwasher. She indicated that this would normally mean an issue with either the heating element, the high limit thermostat, or the control board.
