Microwave would not heat but had power Wilbur C. • Washington , DC • December 16, 2017
14 year old GE Profile microwave wouldn't heat, but had power. Read reviews here. Ordered triumvirate of magnetron, capacitor, & diode. Was hoping not to need the capacitor as this was an expensive part; and if not needed to return to AppliancePartsPros, which has been SOP.
After watching a couple YouTube videos of microwave capacitors being shorted, I made a capacitor discharge tool ordering 24W 100K Ohm resistor and high voltage test wires w/ alligator clips from amazon. At the same time,...

My maytag mmv4205bab over the cooktop mounted microwave stopped heating without any warning the unit sounded like it was working but now the sound was noticeably louder i had replaced a magnetron Lee B. • Lakewood , CA • February 27, 2015
After dismounting the unit from its wall-hanging bracket, the most tedious part of the repair was removing over a dozen screws holding the cover in place from the top, bottom, and both sides. Fortunately, I had placed the unit on a bench that allowed me to slide the unit allowing access to the screws on the bottom edges of the unit. Always discharge the capacitor before continuing to work on the unit by discharging the capacitor by shorting the contact without the diode to ground. Access to the...

Ge monogram zmc1095sf02 microwave Christopher L. • Saint Charles , IL • December 15, 2014
Wife let me know the microwave was making grinding noise while I was in garage fixing her car starter, never a dull moment. Further questioning she also said it wan't heating the food. Due to being an odd sized built in $$ unit I had to have repaired. I was getting quotes in the $4-500 range for just the magnetron.
I was pretty confident the magnetron was the issue and also ordered a new capacitor and diode since I was going to be in there and a lot of money ahead repairing myself. About...

Loud hum/buzz & no heat Greg S. • Springfield , VA • November 30, 2015
Replacing a magnetron in my particular 9-year-old microwave (a microwave/hood combination) was not a simple “plug & play” operation. That is why I am placing this in the slightly difficult area. First, it takes 2 people to remove the microwave from the top of the stove. Next the main outer panel need to be removed. After that, 2 sheet metal panels need to be removed in order to expose the high voltage components for testing.
Always discharge the high voltage capacitor first before doing...

The appliance was a ge profile microwave oven it appeared to work normally but there was no heat at all Paul W. • Knoxville , TN • August 09, 2016
Replaced the high voltage diode. You will need a special Torx screwdriver to remove the tamper resistant screws holding the cover. Once the cover is removed there should be a packet inside containing a schematic and detailed troubleshooting instructions.
I used extreme caution to discharge the capacitor. The rest was simple. One screw and a push connector to remove and reinstall the diode.
I fired it up and it was good as new. Thanks to AppliancepartsPros for the good guidance and extremely...

Microwave making loud humming noise Ken S. • Cumberland , RI • February 24, 2015
We had a problem with the magnetron a few years ago while it was still under warranty so they sent me a new magnetron but when the repairman showed up he had a new one also and said just keep it as a spare (no charge).
It's an over-the-range microwave so taking it down takes a little bit of an effort, cumbersome more than anything. Got it down to my work bench, took off the housing, checked to make sure the capacitor was discharged, removed the capacitor (diode is attached to it) and...

Microwave stopped heating food Tom B. • Garden City , ID • March 15, 2015
I went online to specifically check for resolution to problem. I found out the most common problem was a bad magnetron and diode. I then watched a couple youtube videos on the repair process. I entered model # of microwave at the Appliance Parts Pros website and was able to order exact parts. The APP site had excellent schematics for exact location of parts in microwave. I followed those and fixed microwave! The wife was amazed!

Bad magnetron John D. • Sugar Land , TX • June 07, 2021
After testing the power diode and capacitor that drives the magnetron power source, they came up good on the static tests with the multimeter and battery (used for the diode test). And the static test of the magnetron came fine too, ie: passed the ohm resistance test and short to case resistance tests. Still the oven works only heat water to ~137 degrees max even after running for several minutes. I suspected a break in the winding of the magnetron might be opening after it heats up. Try as I...

Everything seemed to work but it did not heat anything and made a loud buzzing noise Hugh H. • Duluth , GA • February 18, 2017
The rectifier (a high-voltage diode) connected to the magnetron that supplies the RF energy that does the heating in the microwave was shorted. The shorted rectifier was found by using a multimeter to measure resistance which should be very high in this type of diode. After replacing the rectifier the Frigidaire microwave oven heated food normally. I thank AppliancePartsPros for sending the part so promptly.
The real problem with this repair was getting this over the stove microwave oven out of...
