Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You F2 error code   Craig P. • Nashville , TN • March 13, 2015

I was able to find the model number on the lower right hand side of the range/oven, a GE True Temp. I Googled it to find parts, and thought I had found the correct sensor, but was very pleased that the ApplianceParts sire suggested I check compatability again before the order. I would have ordered the wrong sensor kit other wise. I DID get the correct one order. It arrived on time. The tricky part was get the old sensor out without having to pull the oven/range combo out form the wall over... Read more

Oven won't heat or shuts off during baking? A faulty thermal fuse cuts power when detecting excessive heat. This safety device protects your range.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE profile in wall oven gave F 9 code and would shut off after 30 minutes   Matthew M. • Fairfield , CA • July 23, 2018

The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You After self clean cycle oven heated very slowly and never got to temp   Beth C. • Atkinson , NH • March 27, 2018

Online chat here said that the oven sensor should be replaced. I got the feeling that was a bit off, so I went with my gut and ordered the thermostat as well. Replaced the sensor and that didn't fix it. Replaced the thermostat and it worked like a charm! Disappointed that they were overconfident in their answer and it would have taken me more days to fix - but, the products came in quickly (basically, next day) and were correct. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You F9 error code oven is on but times out because it will not heat up   Steven W. • Franksville , WI • May 08, 2015

Looked online. Others said to start with the thermostat because its cheap and easy to fix, so I did. The thermostat is located at the rear of the oven on the back. You need to remove a total of 3 panels to get to it. Do not confuse it with the thermal sensor at the rear of the oven on top. My thermostat was clearly deformed, and I had never run a self clean like other with testify to. Simply replace it - easy. Oven worked like new. Read more

Thrmst-Fix
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP4449751

The High Limit Thermostat is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ovens. It acts as a safety mechanism that monitors the oven's temperature to prevent overheating. When the oven exceeds a specific temperature, the high-limit thermostat interrupts the electrical flow to the heating element, ensuring the appliance remains within safe operating conditions.

Causes of a bad High Limit Thermostat can include a malfunction due to electrical issues or component failure. It may become unresponsive over time, failing to cut off the power to the heating element when the oven overheats.

Symptoms of a bad High Limit Thermostat include:

  • The oven not heating up adequately or overheating
  • Inconsistent oven temperatures leading to undercooked or overcooked food
  • The thermostat being unresponsive or failing to regulate the oven’s temperature

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Open thermal fuse on whirlpool wall double oven   Lon F. • Jacksonville , FL • May 23, 2015

Replaced fuse. It took much longer to get the oven out of the wall to access the fuse and replace the front panel than to do the repair. This fuse failed at the end of the cleaning cycle for the bottom oven and left the door locked because the open fuse removed the 120v power from the control board. The locked door made it impossible to remove one of the screws holding the wall oven in place. However, after I ground off the head of the screw behind the edge of the locked door I was able to... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Oven was shutting off when it reached temps over 400 control panel was frozen and very hot the only way to reset was to flip the breaker off and on   Joan L. • Waxhaw , NC • June 02, 2019

We initially called a repair company who immediately diagnosed the fan, without opening up anything. They quoted $550 to repair. $159 of that was the fan part.
