Followed the instructions that came with the replacement part: made sure stove top was unpowered, unscrewed the old housing from the stove top, cut the wires, stripped some insulation off, attached the new wires with the (accompanying) wire nuts, attached new housing to stove top.

I ordered the 8 inch Haliant Element from Appliance Parts Pro with overnight shipping (I needed to have it working for Easter weekend!) and it arrived when promised and in perfect condition!
To replace, you need a couple of boards longer than the stove is wide to hold the stove above the counter. You will also need a T15 Torx head on a handle or socket wrench. It also helps to have some pliers, and a second person to slip the boards under and out from the stove when you lift it.

From YouTube videos I was sure the issue was a blown igniter. There were numerous examples of how to replace the igniter on YouTube and the repair was pretty easy. Getting at the igniter was a bit awkward and I had to disconnect gas to get access to back of oven but the whole process only took 20-25 minutes.
