I watched a few videos on youtube to get some ideas as to what the problem may be. I pulled out the stove from the wall and DISCONNECTED THE POWER - thats very important. We had ordered and installed the drip pans and when we took a look, we knew we needed new elements. Those were perfect; exact replacement. The problem was on the eight inch units, the rim of the drip pan touched the element. It was a simple matter of removing a small bit of the drip pan where the element enters.
