Oven not heating or baking unevenly? A faulty bake element is often the cause. This DIY repair takes about 10 minutes with basic tools—no repairman needed.
Our Amana electric oven stopped producing heat. The bake element would not get hot anymore. I pulled stove away from wall and unplugged it. Removed the oven racks for easier access and simply used a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the element to the back interior wall. I slide the element forward until the two ends of the element came out of the back wall, exposing the electrical connectors. Next I removed the wire connectors from the element using a pair of pliers for... Read more
Burner stuck on high or won't heat? This infinite heat switch kit controls surface element temperature. Most DIYers complete in under 30 minutes.
I replaced all 3 remaining burner controls because they were all original (mid 1970s GE electric range w/coil burners), and one of the controls occasionally made arcing sounds when cycling the burner on and off. If a control is making odd noises - more than just a quiet metallic clicking as it cycles - it should be replaced. I'm assuming you have experience with the tools needed and can do simple mechanical assembly or disassembly, but have not previously worked with electrical equipment of... Read more

Fix F8E0 error code or slow cooling fan in your range. This fan motor circulates air for even heating. Moderate DIY repair takes 1-2 hours to install.
After researching the problem, I ordered a new cooling fan. My "fix-it" guy winds up in the ICU for 3 weeks! So...YouTube here I come. It appeared pretty simple in video form, except the video wasn't of my stove. All in all, what looked like no more than a 6 screw removal, turned into tearing 1/2 the stove apart. Still, only took about 2 hours start to finish. Best lesson learned, turn off the energy efficiency mode!!! Read more
Seals oven cavity to prevent heat loss during baking and broiling. Replace if worn, cracked, or heat escapes around door. Verify fit by model number.
I removed the door, mostly so we could really clean the all the nooks and cranny's of the stove, and make the handle and gasket replacement easier. Attaching the new handle was not difficult, but did require some minor door dis-assembly. Removing the old gasket and putting on the new gasket was a breeze. The hardest part of the job was putting the door back onto the stove, but we got it done and the stove looks and works great. Read more
Control panel overlay for electric and gas ranges. Labels buttons and controls on the interface. Replace if cracked, peeling, faded, or worn out.
Unplugged stove. Removed six 1/4 inch socket head screws from back panel. Removed back panel. Removed plug on the back of the OCB. Removed OCB. Used Philips screwdriver to remove four mounting screws (and cracked pieces of the mounting holes). If you can get to this point, installing the new OCB is pretty self explanatory. Read more
Oven won't heat, overheating, or controls unresponsive? This range control board manages temperature and cooking functions. Moderate DIY repair.
Replaced the oven controller. This needed the only removal of six hex screws securing the back guard rear shield, two-wire plugs on the control unit, and four Phillips screws. All are easily accessible. The only difficulty came from an apparent model design change that separated the control unit and the overlay - the labels for the control buttons (items 20 and 20a in the backyard parts diagram). Mine is a single unit (the overlay could not be removed without damage) led to the assumption that... Read more
Oven not reaching temperature or taking too long to preheat? A failed bake element is often the cause. Moderate DIY repair, 1-2 hours with rear access.
I determined the hidden bake element below the oven cavity was not working, because the bottom of the oven was cold during normal use. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. It is impossible to access the bake element from the inside of the oven, so the How To video associated with this part will not help you. I had to remove the... Read more

Oven not heating or preheating? A failed bake element prevents proper baking temperatures. Simple 5-10 minute replacement with basic tools.
My oven element "melted away" on a Saturday evening. I couldn't find any parts locally on Sunday so that left me until Monday with no oven. On Monday, I had the option of buying one locally for $70+ dollars or go online. I've dealt with AppliancePartsPros before and they've always delivered so I took the chance and put an order in. I had the part Tuesday afternoon without driving anywhere and for only $54... in less than 30 hours after I ordered it! WOW! It took almost no time to install... Read more

Control knob assembly for gas cooktop burners. Installs on front control panel. Replace if cracked, broken, spins freely, or won't grip valve stem.
I used a little too much 'elbow grease' trying to remove the knobs on my GE Stove trying to clean them. I thought they were metal, but they are plastic and I cracked the inside part on 3 of them. I am so happy Appliance Parts Pros sells these knobs for half the price of GE Parts! I did not realize how expensive they are. Ordering was easy and they were delivered in 2 business days! Read more
Support bracket that secures the microwave door handle. Installs inside the door panel. Replace if cracked, broken, or shattered from regular use.
Since I have already made this same repair twice (once on my own appliance and once on a neighbor's), I'm getting pretty adept at it! Here are the steps: 1. Remove microwave oven door. 2. Using a putty knife, gently pry out the black plastic outer bezel. 3. Remove two visible screws near the latches that secure the inner prongy metal frame. 4. Using a putty knife and/or screw driver, lever up the metal frame by releasing the small tabs on one or two sides - (this is the trickiest part of the... Read more
